The Shady Grove Coffeehouse presents Diana Jones. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 8 pm in an ON LINE concert via ZOOM.  The webinar for the concert will be open at 7:45.

We will send the link for the concert to all ticket holders on Friday afternoon and again on Saturday before the show. Only people who purchase a ticket will be sent the email with the link.

Since her 2006 breakthrough album, My Remembrance of You, Diana Jones has been a major literary voice in contemporary song. She is rooted in the Appalachian traditions of ancestors and has proven unusually adept at distilling complicated cultural forces down to a particular person in a particular time and place. “Henry Russell’s Last Words,” for example, was based on a 1927 letter written by a dying West Virginia coal miner.  Diana Jones has won additional acclaim for her most recent recording, Song To A Refugee, in which she brings her signature brand of storytelling to the worldwide refugee crisis. The UK’s Guardian/Observer calls Song To A Refugee “a record for our time.”  This powerful song cycle reflects renewed empathy for, and common cause with, the plight of refugees. Collaborators with Diana Jones on Song To A Refugee included Steve Earle, Richard Thompson and Peggy Seeger. Diana Jones last performed at the Shady Grove Coffeehouse in 2006; come hear how she has developed her songwriting and performance craft!  Tickets are $10 per person for all who attend.
