About Event
The Park Slope UMC Book Sale is back!
Called “one of the most beloved annual events in the neighborhood,” the 28th annual event was postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic that shuttered so many city-wide traditions.
The Sale is now slated for March 25th and 26th. We’ve made modifications this year for the safety of customers and volunteer workers, who will be asked to show vaccination proof and wear masks. In addition, the Sale will take place in the church’s large, well-ventilated sanctuary instead of the basement.
What will not change: bibliophiles of every age and demographic will discover treasures, mostly priced at $1 or $2. Customers will find cutting edge contemporary fiction, from Atwood and Adichie to Zadie Smith; eye-dazzling art books; CDs and LPs to send buyers down memory lane, and DVDs of favorite films and TV shows; as well as myriad mysteries and histories, from the latest whodun-its to the most arcane how-to’s. Each year, thousands of books in fine, gently-used condition are sold during the massive annual sale.
In addition, families will find children’s classics, and more contemporary picture and chapter books. Each year’s haul is a new trawl of the best-loved and least-expected. That’s why the sale was dubbed by one Brooklyn blog as one of the 100 reasons that Park Slope is “a special place to live.”
The sale is free to the public on Saturday, Mar. 26, from 9:30am to 5:30pm.
