About Event

One of our favorite ways to serve our community is to work with our local Lutheran Food pantries and ministries to give families in need a Thanksgiving meal. Each basket includes a full turkey meal for 6 people.

This year, we are continuing our partnership with Ebenezer Stone Ministry and their director Mike Haas. Ebenezer Stone Ministry sources food through Feeding America and other major food vendors.  Food is shipped to the Ebenezer Stone warehouse and then distributed to local food pantries in the city of Milwaukee. These partnerships and resources allow us the opportunity to source food at a much lower cost. For this reason, all boxing, packing and delivery will take place in ONE day, Saturday, November 18 from 8:30am - 12:00pm at the Ebenezer Stone warehouse in Milwaukee. (1128 Bruce St., Milwaukee) This year we are packing 1,420 boxes!  After final sourcing of the food, the cost per basket will be $35.  This puts our needs just shy of $50,000.  We have been blessed so far with donations totaling over $37,000.  Thank you for your faithfulness serving people in need through God’s rich abundance in our lives with mercy and grace.
FAQ:
Why such a huge increase?
Our long-time church food pantry locations went up 100 baskets due to COVID subsidies ending and continued need in the community they serve. To further our ministry partnership with Ebenezer Stone, they have requested the additional baskets to serve more ministry food pantries on the south side of the city.

What is the price per basket?  Unknown at this time. We have sourced corn, beans, and macaroni and cheese through Feeding America at no cost to BLC but we are awaiting prices from Aldi on the rest of the food. We are in the process of trying to secure the source for the turkeys.  We hope to have that information very soon to be able to share the final cost per basket.
How many more volunteers do we need? We will have a third packing line so we need at least 25 more packing volunteers than in the past. Ebenezer Stone will assist to distribute the additional baskets.
Will there be breakfast/lunch?  We will serve cold breakfast.  Based on feedback we have tightened the timeline of the morning and will be done with packing and loading by noon so will not serve lunch.

Will transport be provided?  We plan to have the bus, however, if we don’t have enough riders to make it cost effective, we will arrange carpools from church due to limited and gated parking at the Ebenezer warehouse.
Come for just packing, delivering or both!  The building does have an enclosed parking lot.  We will also have an optional bus service to and from Brookfield Lutheran Church available for those not wishing to drive.  As an added bonus you will get to see and hear about the ministry at Ebenezer Stone and how they are getting food into the hands of those in need, all done for Jesus!

Your serving options are:
Ride the bus and pack meals. Meet in the parking lot at Brookfield Lutheran at 8am. Will return by 11am.

Drive yourself and pack meals. (no delivering)  Meet at Ebenezer Stone at 8:30am.
