Mission Trip to St. Louis

  • Saturday, June 18, 2022

About Event

There is something about mission trips that work powerfully on our hearts and leave us changed. Maybe it’s the eye-opening experience of serving in an unfamiliar cultural setting. Maybe it’s seeing unfiltered brokenness that we often don’t see in our day to day lives. Maybe it’s the joy of taking part in God’s renewal or the camaraderie formed amongst the team. Whatever it is, God uses these trips to change us. This summer we will be traveling back to St. Louis and pairing up with New City Fellowship (newcity.org) and their ministry Restore Saint Louis (restorestlouis.org) to participate in what they call a Workday Summer Team (restorestlouis.org/the-workday). The Workday ministry strives to manifest the glory and love of Christ by meeting physical needs and building relational bridges amongst “the least of these” in St Louis. Our role in carrying out this vision while there will consist of:
  • tutoring children in a summer school program;
  • working on the homes of widows, immigrants, refugees and the poor;
  • serving children in the community through ‘backyard kids clubs’;
  • learning what the Bible has to say about injustice and poverty; and
  • experiencing the life of a Christian community that is actively pursuing racial reconciliation and justice on behalf of the poor.
This is NOT a youth only trip. It is open to anyone at Crossroads rising 8th grade and up, including adults who have no children on the trip. It promises to be a great week in which we will work hard, learn much, and, by God’s grace, seek Christ, proclaim Christ, and grow in Christ together as a team.
